I think this must be "run into former female acquaintances" week. I saw Lisa C. yesterday. It was funny because the last time I saw her was 12 years ago and I've only seen her twice in the past 15 years and I recognized her right away. It was her eyes and also the way she flicks her cigarette up and down nervously as she takes it away from her mouth ... like she's not real sure about what she's doing. She was one of my best friends in high school, probably the best and then some. We did so much stuff together. Memories just keep coming back: "The Misadventures of Charlie and Lisa" - this will take a while to write. I guess I'll just write a little at a time.

Let's see their was when we met via Chris (Noelle); going to Tony's wake and funeral; sneaking beer with pretzels & mustard into the movies; drinking at the dry cleaners; her driving dad's truck around through the woods at Redy Point; her getting my field jacket cleaned after it got perfume all over it; her offering to "kick that bitch's (Suzanne's) ass" after Suzanne sort of snubbed me; going to the fair; dealing with her mother's drinking problem and abusiveness; her telling me what definitely will and will not get a girl pregnant; listening to her cry about her mother and stuff; lots and lots of stuff. I don't know what I would have done without her at that time in my life. We were by no means model teenagers; she was a non-practicing Catholic and I was an apathetic Baptist. But I know that God was watching out for me then by bringing someone into my life to share things with.

Now, she's probably at the same point I am where it's time to start serving the Lord and experience His peace. I know that's why the Lord must be bringing these people back into my life, to share about Him. Well, I'm 1 for 2 so far. I'm sure Lisa must work downtown, I'll just hang around in the park and I'm sure I'll see her on her way to lunch. Thank you Lord for giving me these opportunities to share Your Love with those that have meant so much in my life.

Wanted to post my review of the 9/22/01 Waterdeep show in Athens:

calvary chapel is not a cult

Well, maybe not ... but I still wasn't partaking of the community Kool-Aid barrel. :-)

Just kidding. It was a very nice place staffed with nice people. I had a good time at the show meeting up with Jon, Joel, Crystal, Frenchie and others. Was a bummer because Christine wasn't feeling well and wasn't able to play. Ten Shekel Shirt was good. I was feeling kind of tired during the show, so much that I don't remember alot of the songs. Let's see, they did, YASGTM, Walls and Tall Shadows, a couple I'm not familiar with, some Tom Petty tune (like Mary Jane or something), My God Has Come To Save Me, When The Cold Wind Blows. Don told some really stupid stories that had nothing to do with anything. During one which was about the old comic strip "Bloom County", a bunch of girls yelled "HUSH!!!", and he was sort of taken aback. Lori said "Oh I don't think they were talking to you, honey; I think they were requesting a song and at the same time trying to quiet some people around them". That was pretty funny. So Don finished the story and then told one about the Swiss-German language which also had nothing to do with nothing. After awhile I started getting depressed thinking about the six hour drive home. Then I decided to yell for a song but couldn't remember the title. So I went back to the merch table and figured out it was "Completely Known". But this was sort of a strange place; they'd clap and yell after some songs and after others, you could here a pin drop and there were several hundred people there. So I couldn't yell the song because they had a string of those pin drop moments so I decided to write the request on a piece of paper, make a paper airplane and throw it at Don. But by then they had finished the worship tunes and Don said he would finish up with his Sermonella. Then I was feeling really tired and depressed and just asked God to please just give me something. You know, it wasn't the band's fault of course, just me. And then Don said, "You know I'm going to do one more acoustic song to close the evening ...". ISN'T GOD JUST LIKE THE GREATEST IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE, YES YYYYEEEEEAAAAA. And so he played the first chord and I knew what it was and I just started jumping up and down and clapping and stuff. You know have you ever had one of those moments when God just reaches down and just pours out His spirit all over you and your just so filled up and overflowing and even if everyone else is just sitting around with their eyes closed and meditating you just have to shout His praises!!!! So I ran up to Don after the show and hugged him and thanked him for playing that.

It's like every show I go to something like that happens. It's usually something from the Sermonella or from just talking to the band ... or one or two "special" songs. God just reveals so much to me through them.

[10/14/2001 1:54:51 AM | Charlie Bell]
Took an extended nap this afternoon and had a dream about Waterdeep. I was in Wichita walking around with Angie and we walked to a huge warehouse (it was dark and I've never actually been to Wichita, or Kansas). A huge semi (like lots bigger than life) came and pulled up and the back doors opened up and people started getting out. It was like they were just pulling into town after getting off tour. People began taking things out of the truck (there were lots of roadies) and I helped. Then I saw Don sitting on the floor in the middle of the truck playing his acoustic guitar. I went up behind him and said "hey Don" and he got up and hugged me like he always does. He said he wanted to show me around the place so we went in the warehouse and there were speakers mounted all over the walls and the ceiling; also recording gear and other musical gear everywhere. I told him that it looked like you could get pretty loud in there and he said "yea, that's what it's for". Jon was there and he was married to Frenchie and they had three kids that looked like Barker Children. (not really :-). However, this warehouse did have places for people to live, like sections partitioned off with cots and stuff and I think Chad and Lisa and kids were living there. There was lots more to this but I don't remember it. I remember talking to Lori but she didn't look like Lori, she looked a lot heavier ... like pregnant. Oh my, more Waterdeep babies.

I spoke with Amy Jordan last night on IM. She had somehow looked me up and put me on her buddy list. We only met once at Robert's Memorial Concert but I liked her alot and she is a good friend of Missy's who I kept more in contact with. She's a nut. Works all night on weekends at an alarm monitoring company and gets to play on the internet most of the time. That sounds like a good gig but would be boring after awhile. Reminds me of the bad old days when I was with AT&T. What a nut house. But it was cool working the all night shift as there weren't many calls and the ones that did call were usually crazy or drunk or both. ANYWAY, Amy's doing well. She works days doing web work for a real estate company. We talked Star Trek, Missy and Scott, and life in general for about an hour. She'll probably be back on tonite so maybe I'll catch up with her again.

Jayne's father and step-mother stopped in this morning on their way back to Tampa. It was good seeing them and Jayne and Joanne got along really well (praise God). Joanne's real funny and nice, I hope she and Jayne hit it off. Ord is getting more and more confused. It's sad. But it's real slow so I think he's got a few good years left.
